Phlebotomy Service

Clinic and Mobile Phlebotomist Service

mobile phlebotomy service

Phlebotomy for Laboratories, Stem Cell Blood Banks, Private and NHS Patients

Noviche BioScience provides a professional, clinic-based and mobile phlebotomy service for laboratories, private patients, General Practice health clinics, stem cell blood banks, family law solicitors, and nursing and residential care homes.

Our responsibility is to take blood efficiently and as painlessly as possible, without harming the patient or disturbing the nursing care they are receiving at the time. We ensure the blood is taken correctly, maintaining viability of specimens for analysis. All our mobile phlebotomists are trained and accredited to national standards, which incorporate academic learning with practical skill.

What is Phlebotomy?

Phlebotomy is the practice of drawing blood from a patient. The word is derived from the Greek words phlebo (vein) and tomy (to make a cut). Modern phlebotomy shares little more than a name with these ancient practices. Today phlebotomy is performed primarily to diagnose and monitor a patient's condition and involves highly developed and rigorously tested procedures and equipment to ensure the safety and comfort of the patient and the integrity of the sample collected.

Our mobile phlebotomy service helps to reduce the workload of doctors and nurses by focusing exclusively on blood collection, particularly in clinics, umbilical cord stem cells in hospitals, nutritional health centres, or patients' homes (referred to as our domiciliary service). With over seventeen years experience, we provide a complete range of services to ensure the process runs efficiently, from taking the blood sample, ensuring forms and documentation is completed accurately, to delivering it to the laboratory. Most importantly we will make the experience as pleasant as possible for the patient.

Special Needs

Sometimes special tests are requested by doctors that require patients to be fasting; or to be taken at specified times; taken in conjunction with urine samples or require the samples to reach the laboratories within specified timescales. All our phlebotomists are accredited in the application of monovette and vacutainer, venous and capillary blood collections.

Umbilical Cord Blood Collection Service

The cure of many life-threatening diseases is dependent on the transplant of stem cells, of which there are only few sources. The umbilical cord and cord blood are the rich and viable sources of stem cells and can be easily collected within a few minutes without affecting the natural sequence of your baby's birth. The procedure is safe and without any risk to the mother and the baby. We have HTA-compliant Third Party Agreements already in place with a number of organisations that specialise in providing umbilical cord blood stem cells storage and cord blood banking in the UK.

Private Patient Service

We carry out blood test sampling in the comfort of the patient's home, avoiding difficult visits to a hospital or surgery. We can also arrange blood sampling at a place of work in order to save valuable down-time.

Procedure for arranging a private patient blood test

  1. Patient's doctor identifies the need for a blood test, completes a form and gives it to the patient (providing necessary information on the correct test required)
  2. Patient completes an On-Line Blood Sample Collection Request Form or downloads a Blood Sample Collection Request Form and contacts us
  3. Blood sample is taken and delivered to the laboratory
  4. Patient contacts doctor for results

If a patient requires a blood sample collection only i.e. arrangements with a blood testing laboratory have already been made, then simply complete an On-Line Blood Sample Collection Request Form

Remember

A fasting blood test means nothing to eat or drink, other than water, for 12 hours prior to the test and no alcohol for 24 hours before the test, unless otherwise advised by your doctor.

If you are cold your veins will be more difficult to find. By making sure you keep warm prior to your blood test this will help speed up the process.

General Practice Blood Testing Clinics

We set up blood testing clinics, providing community health check blood test sessions at your practice for patients who find it difficult to get to the hospital, helping to ease the load on practice nurses and healthcare workers.
